MISSION:
The UCSF-East Bay Surgery Residency Program is committed to the training of general surgical residents so that they are able to care for a diverse patient population in and out of the operating room. Each sponsoring institution places clinical care and resident education at the forefront of their respective missions, and the faculty and staff are dedicated to training the next generation of surgeons.
The mission of the preliminary general surgery internship is to prepare new physicians for the individual management of surgical patients in all clinical settings. We take pride in creating a supportive clinical training environment that allows residents to actively participate in patient care the day they arrive. Our educational curriculum accentuates core surgical principles while commencing the lifelong process of continuing medical education. UCSFEB is confident that trainees develop a skillset that more than prepares them to successfully transition to an advanced specialty position.
