What was your favorite thing about UCSF East Bay?

My favorite thing about UCSF-East Bay was meeting Dr Claude Organ. He was a gentleman and a great leader. I learned from him that a quiet, yet demanding presence speaks more than words. Also, the fellow residents I worked with will forever be my family.

What about UCSF East Bay most helps you in your career now?

Training at UCSF-East Bay gave me the opportunity to work hard in a busy county hospital while also learning how private practice life can be at a Kaiser hospital system. It allowed me to see what type of career a general surgeon can have after residency and I was happy to choose Kaiser.

What would you like to share applicants about your experiences at UCSF East Bay?

Your experiences here will be lifechanging, and you will develop bonds stronger than family. My surgical residency training has made me who I am today professionally and mentally. I can’t thank the program enough. I love what I do, and enjoy caring for new patients every day.

Do you have a favorite memory from UCSF East Bay?

I remember doing my cardiac rotation at Kaiser Moanalua, Hawaii. I had a great time learning from Dr Chen, and did a 5K run with the team. I think my family enjoyed the island more than I did, though.
